This DNA test is based on whether or not the two twins have identical DNA profiles. Identical twins will have the same DNA profiles, as they prenatally developed from the same zygote during gestation. Fraternal twins will have similar, but not identical, DNA profiles, having developed in two separate zygotes during gestation. Fraternal twins’ DNA profiles will be as similar as two non-twin siblings.
